Carbonz ensures its credits are of the highest integrity by selling carbon credits with only the most robust methodologies and by maintaining a carbon offset registry to record certification and ownership of credits.
Carbon credits are the subject of much debate and criticism globally. Poorly verified carbon credits, credit double counting and inaccurate data on carbon dioxide sequestration have led to this criticism. Carbonz ensures its credits are world standard by using artificial intelligence mapping and measurement and by maintaining a carbon offset registry to record certification and ownership of credits.
A further argument against carbon credits is that they provide an excuse for emitters to keep emitting, invoking complacency. However, it is now widely accepted that this logic doesn’t ring true. Carbon credits are an integral tool in the world’s fight against climate change. This is for three main reasons:
Emitters can’t reach net zero immediately. We agree that businesses should be cutting emissions as far and fast as possible, however, in reality we can’t cut emissions completely. We will need offsets to get to carbon zero. This applies to businesses now, and the whole world by 2050. 2050 is the date where the United Nations has said the world must reach carbon neutrality to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
We need action now. Businesses can act now by reducing emissions and offsetting through high quality carbon credits.
Our planet needs both offsetting and emission reduction cuts. It is up to all of us to hold businesses to account, to ensure that they both offset and reduce as much as possible to reach net zero emissions. Additionally, because of the climate state we are in today, the world needs to draw down emissions that we have already put into the atmosphere. Even if the whole world went carbon zero today we would still need carbon credits to alleviate the worst impacts of climate change.
