Glen Dene Station Restoration

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

Glen Dene is a high country station on the shores of both Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka. The property stretches 15,000 acres, and contains a variety of Beech forrest, Manuka, wetland, creeks, mountains and farmland. As third generation custodians of the land, Richard Burdon and his family protect its long term environmental, social, cultural, and economic sustainability. The opportunity to be part of Carbonz has allowed Glen Dene to extensively invest in restoration and conservation. Opting into Carbonz’s regenerative initiative has created the opportunity to fence off wetlands, lake margins and areas where we want natives to regenerate. Conservation and restoration provide numerous ecosystem services that continue to contribute to the long-term sustainability of the Burdon’s who have farmed there since 1928. Having stations such as Glen Dene protecting the future biodiversity, ecosystems and land in balance with its farming business is critical to the long term sustainability of our high country properties.
